Float Therapy at Bandy Canyon Ranch
Experience Deep Relaxation and Healing through Sound and Float Therapy
WHAT IS FLOAT THERAPY?
Float therapy combines the calming effects of floating in water with the healing power of sound, often referred to as a Sound Bath. In this unique experience, sound waves and vibrations work together to guide the body into a deep state of relaxation and healing.
Sound therapy, also known as vibrational medicine, is based on the idea that everything in the universe is in a state of vibration. By applying specific sounds and frequencies, the body is encouraged to align with these vibrations, creating an environment for natural healing. This process can shift our brainwave states, helping us move from an alert, reactive state (known as beta) to more relaxed, meditative states (like alpha and theta), and even to deep, restorative states (delta).
During a float therapy session, participants are gently guided by our team into a floating vessel in the water. As you lay back and close your eyes, the sound waves created by various instruments—such as quartz crystal bowls, Himalayan bowls, gongs, and drums—wash over you. These sounds help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation and stress reduction. Under the guidance of our expert sound healer, Elizabeth, the combination of floating and sound therapy helps the body release stress, reduce pain, and enter a state of deep relaxation.
Float therapy is more than just a relaxing experience; it’s a holistic approach to wellness that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit.

The conditions of every pregnancy can be different and all expecting mothers should seek the approval of their doctor before floating. However, in general, after your first trimester it is safe to float and many have found floating to be a great relief due to the weightlessness of the body while floating. Floating is also a wonderful way to bond with your baby.
You can float fully clothed! There is no need for bathing suits. We advise against long pants/jeans just in case your ankles get wet when embarking/disembarking your vessel. We recommend loose, comfortable clothing.
Sound healing is generally safe for most people. However, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning any new health practice, especially if you have a history of health conditions or are currently taking medication.
Just yourself! Towels, a blanket, a pillow and an eye mask will be provided before your session. At the end of the session, there will be a hydration break and time to come back to the present.
Our vessels have been tested with floaters weighing up to 250 pounds who have been able to float without issue. Feel free to come in and try it! If for some reason it simply doesn’t work, we’ll refund you! (note: this has never happened)
We conduct small group sessions to ensure the experience is intimate and not overwhelming. Each session will accommodate approximately 15 participants or fewer. Our sessions take place in our huge swimming pool, providing ample room for everyone to float freely!
